Day 1: Old Manali Vibes & Cultural Exploration

  • Morning (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM): Hadimba Temple & Old Manali Exploration

    • Hadimba Devi Temple: Start your day with a visit to this unique 15th-century pagoda-style temple, set amidst a dense deodar forest. It's a peaceful and architecturally distinct site.

    • Old Manali Village: Walk from Hadimba Temple to Old Manali. This charming village retains a rustic, bohemian vibe. Explore its narrow lanes, quaint cafes, guesthouses, and souvenir shops. It's perfect for a leisurely stroll.

    • Manu Temple: Hike up to the Manu Temple, dedicated to Sage Manu. It offers good views of the surrounding valley and is a tranquil spot.

  • Lunch (1:00 PM - 2:30 PM):

    • Enjoy lunch at one of the many cafes in Old Manali, which offer a great ambiance and diverse cuisine (Indian, Continental, Israeli).

  • Afternoon (2:30 PM - 6:00 PM): Vashisht Village & Hot Springs

    • Take a short drive or walk to Vashisht Village, known for its natural hot sulfur springs.

    • Visit the ancient Vashisht Temple, dedicated to Sage Vashisht.

    • Relax and rejuvenate in the communal hot water springs, which are believed to have medicinal properties. There are separate bathing areas for men and women.

  • Evening (6:00 PM onwards): Mall Road & Local Dinner

    • Head back to Mall Road, the bustling heart of Manali town.

    • Enjoy an evening stroll, do some souvenir shopping (woolen items, local handicrafts), and soak in the vibrant atmosphere.

    • Dinner: Choose from numerous restaurants on or around Mall Road, offering various cuisines. Don't forget to try some local Himachali dishes.

Day 2: Adventure & Scenic Heights

  • Morning (8:00 AM - 1:00 PM): Solang Valley Adventure

    • After an early breakfast, head to Solang Valley (approx. 14 km from Manali).

    • Adventure Activities: Solang is an adventure hub. Depending on the season and your preference, you can indulge in:

      • Paragliding: Enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the valley.

      • Zorbing: Roll down a gentle slope inside a giant inflatable ball.

      • Ropeway/Cable Car: Take the Solang Ropeway for panoramic views and access to higher points.

      • Skiing/Snowboarding: (During winter months)

      • Snow Tubing/ATV Rides: (During winter months)

    • Allocate ample time here to enjoy the activities and the scenic beauty.

    • There are several eateries and stalls in Solang Valley where you can grab a quick bite.

  • Afternoon (2:00 PM - 5:00 PM): Atal Tunnel & Sissu (Optional - Time & Permit Dependent)

    • Option A (If Time & Permit Allow - Rohtang Pass Alternative): Drive through the engineering marvel, Atal Tunnel, which significantly reduces travel time to Lahaul Valley. On the other side, visit Sissu Village, which offers beautiful views of the Chandra River and a serene environment. This is a great alternative if Rohtang Pass is closed or you want to avoid the crowds.

    • Option B (Closer to Manali if time is short): If you prefer to stay closer or want a more relaxed afternoon, you can explore Kothi Village (a scenic village on the way to Rohtang) or Gulaba, offering beautiful views and possibly some light trekking opportunities.

  • Evening (5:00 PM onwards): Relaxation & Departure Prep

    • Return to Manali. You can revisit Mall Road for any last-minute shopping or simply relax at your hotel.

    • Dinner: Enjoy a final dinner in Manali.

Important Tips for Your Manali Trip:

  • Permits for Rohtang Pass/Atal Tunnel:

    • Rohtang Pass: If you plan to visit Rohtang Pass (usually open from May/June to Oct/Nov), you need an online permit. These are limited and often sell out quickly. Book well in advance. Many tourists opt for Solang Valley and Atal Tunnel as excellent alternatives.

    • Atal Tunnel: While the tunnel itself doesn't require a separate permit, if you go beyond Sissu towards Keylong, permits for Lahaul Valley might be applicable depending on the route and season.

  • Transportation: For local sightseeing and trips to Solang Valley/Atal Tunnel, hire a local taxi. You can negotiate full-day rates.

  • Weather & Clothing: Manali's weather can change rapidly. Pack layers. Even in summer, evenings can be chilly. Winters are very cold and snowy. Always carry a warm jacket, gloves, and a cap.

  • Altitude Sickness: Manali is at a moderate altitude. Drink plenty of water and avoid over-exertion on the first day, especially if going to higher altitudes like Rohtang or even Solang.

  • Food: Don't miss local Himachali dishes, siddu, trout fish, and Himachali Thali.

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

  • Bookings: Especially during peak season, book your accommodation and any adventure activities (like paragliding) in advance.

Enjoy your trip to the beautiful mountains of Manali!
