Religious and Historical Sites:

  • Sarala Pitha (Jhankad): This is the most famous spiritual center in Jagatsinghpur. It's the sanctum sanctorum of Goddess Sarala, believed to be a synthesis of Goddess Durga and Saraswati. It's one of the eight most famous Shakta shrines of Odisha and holds high historical importance, being associated with Adikabi Sarala Das, the first epic poet of Odisha (15th century AD).

  • Gorakhnath Temple: Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this is a significant temple in the district, attracting thousands of devotees, especially during Maha Shivaratri.

  • Gada Kujanga Temple: Also known as Subhadra Kshetra, this place is famous for its presiding deity Kunja Behari. The Raghunath Jew Matha nearby adds to its charm.

  • Chandapur Temple Complex: Located in the village of Mahilo, this complex features temples dedicated to Lord Raghunath Jew (Lord Rama) and Lord Chandrasekhar (Lord Shiva) in a single compound, a rare combination.

  • Somanath Temple: This Shiva shrine is famous for its Shiva Lingam, believed to have been placed by Sri Muchukunda Swami, hence the image is popularly called Muchukunda Somanath.

  • Siali Sea Beach: Located about 20 km from Balikuda block, this is a very popular and attractive beach in the district, ideal for picnics.

  • Salajanga Ashram and Siali Beach: Salajanga Ashram is another tourist destination, offering a good picnic spot with access to Sarabanta Jagannath Temple and Siali beach.

  • Alaka Ashram: Known as the "Shabarmati of Odisha," this ashram played a significant role in the freedom movement and later in the Bhoodan Movement, making it a place of historical importance.
